Worlds and reflections

Lily Bobek

What was your inspiration for this piece?
As an artist, I find great inspiration in nature. There is no end to the depth of beauty, colors and intricacies to be found in natural surroundings which send me on creative journeys that I most enjoy when I don’t have a set destination.

Tell us about the creation process including any obstacles overcome or surprises.
I work with acrylics and love the vibrancy and aliveness of the rich pigments. I paint using layers and layers to create intricate and unexpected forms and textures, both through careful control as well as letting go into the spontaneity of the moment. With each layer, the painting becomes an explorative adventure revealing an interplay of vivid colors and space. I follow my intuition to find what discoveries may reveal themselves along the way.
